The Jack Soref Trio is an ensemble that revolves around the longtime musical partnership of guitarists Jack Soref, Jameson Stewart, and bassist Jim Guttmann. The group is deeply rooted in the Jazz Manouche tradition of Django Reinhardt, and the Sinti Musicians keeping his legacy alive today. Reaching both forward and back in time, the band not only pays homage to the music of Django Reinhardt, but enriches their sets with European folkloric song, the odd pop tune, and many of their own original compositions. Expect to hear, sizzling Django style guitar, rollicking jazz, swing, bebop, klezmer, impressionistic melodies, and wild improvisations. All mixed together, with a bit of story telling, and a lot of fun. The chemistry of these three musicians always yields a fertile musical dialogue, wonderful surprises, and joyful nights of music. Jack Soref – Guitar

In his teens, Jack Soref became captivated by the music of Django Reinhardt after attending the International Django Reinhardt festival in Samois-sur-Seine France in 2002. Since then he has performed at jazz clubs, restaurants, concert halls, and festival stages all over the USA as well as internationally on stages in France, Canada, and Scotland. His guitar playing has been heard on radio shows such as NPR's 'Here and Now', NPR's 'Says You', Lost Highway on WMBR, WZBC's Sunday Morning Country with Cousin Kate, as well as PRI and BBC's Internationally distributed radio show 'The World'. To deepen his connection with Django's music, Jack spent half a year living in Paris France in 2011, where he jammed with the legendary guitarist Boulou Ferré and violinist Florin Niculescu. Jack can be seen regularly in the greater Boston area playing Django's music, with a myriad of local musicians. Out in the wider world, he has performed as an accompanist for Jazz Manouche luminaries like Joscho Stephan, Tim Kliphius, Gonzalo Bergara, Jason Anick, Max O'Rourke, Henry
Acker, Olli Soikkeli, Adrien Moignard, Ben Powell, Aurélien Bouly, and Titi Bamberger.

Jameson Stewart – Guitar

Originally from California, JamesonStewart has been performing for over ten years on the East Coast, in many different musical styles, on many different musical instruments. With Jack Soref, Jameson has graced the festival stages of Django by the Sea, and the Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest, as well as touring and playing concerts across the United States. As an electric bassist and composer, he is one of the founding members of the experimental electronic/funk/fusion jazz ensembles Clamb and QuadraPeg. He is also a seasoned electric and upright bassist for hire having accompanied countless, singers, guitarists, and horn players on the Boston Country, Rock, and straight ahead Jazz scenes. If that weren't enough he leads, and plays fiery mandolin lines in, the Boston BID's Mediterranean Quartet.

Jim Guttmann – Upright Bass

Jim Guttmann’s career spans 40 years and many musical idioms. As a founding member of the Klezmer Conservatory Band, he has toured the world and has performed & recorded with Itzhak Perlman and Joel Grey, worked with Richard Stolzman and Dan Stepner he was part of the Grammy Award winning ensemble on Yehudi Wyner’s “The Mirror.” In 2010 he released his first album as a leader, “Bessarabian Breakdown” a culmination of his experience to date, playing traditional klezmer music with small and large ensembles, and creating fusions of klezmer with traditional Afro-Cuban guajira and guaguanco, a nod to Tower of Power and calypso, a swinging jazz trio and a brief hip hop interlude.
